The Greenberg Building

This historic office building was constructed about 1907.  It has a Roman brick

front  façade and was built in the then popular style of a business arcade

building.  The building originally had a three story atrium and was open to

Main  Street in the front  and to the rear lot with stores and offices facing

each  other  along its center walkway.   It was the predecessor to our malls.

In 1973 the  building was  extensively modernized  with a new front façade,

air conditioning,  modern plumbing and electrical  systems.  In 1998 the

building's front façade  was restored to its original 1907 design. The building

is well maintained  and has a fire  alarm system.

Ample free parking is available behind the building on the well maintained

public lot.  Dumpsters are provided for tenants behind the building.

Location: The Greenberg Building is located at 7566 Main Street, Sykesville,

Maryland.   The town  of Sykesville is part of the Baltimore - Washington

metropolitan area.  It is approximately 21 miles  from downtown Baltimore

and 30 miles from downtown Washington.  Sykesville is four miles north

of Interstate Highway 70, three miles south of Maryland Route 26 and

located on Maryland Route  32 which links Interstate 70 and Route 26.

Sykesville is 25 minutes from the Columbia Mall and from the Owings

Mills Mall, the two major  regional malls.  Sykesville is 5 minutes from

 the Eldersburg shopping district.

The  town is the oldest commercial area in southern Carroll County and has a number of buildings  that are over 120 years old.  In the last five years, most of the major buildings have been renovated, and the town has a very attractive appearance. The main commercial area is approximately three blocks long and includes over 45 businesses providing many services including a book store, a stationary and printing store, a bank, accounting firm, real estate office, three antique stores, four beauty parlors, a mortgage company, an advertising agency, a lawyer's office, a full service auto center, an electrical repair shop, a model railroad store, two craft shops, an electrical contractor, two insurance agencies and a well-stocked convenience store.  There is an active local business association.  There are two restaurants - Baldwin Station with fine dining,  and Beck's with casual fare and carry out.

Sykesville, a small town near two big cities, offers small town friendliness and courtesy.
